Traditional Japanese kites soar through the skies

Don't miss this year's Kota Kite Flying Festival—the community of Kota's biggest winter event.
A myriad of kites takes to the skies—large and small, traditional and new-age. And you can use a smartphone app to vote for your favorite kite. Watch these creative and beautiful traditional crafts soar over the rural town of Kota with the whole family as you enjoy the food vendors and booths showing up.

Holding time	• 9:30 am Kite flying application (small and medium), food truck sales (until 2:30 pm) • 10:00 am Opening ceremony • 10:20 am Stage events • 11:00 am Large kite flying (until around 1:00 pm) • 1:40 pm Character rock-paper-scissors game • 2:10 pm Closing Ceremony and results from visitors' votes (large kites)

Parking	No parking lots available around the event venue. A free shuttle bus is available between Kota Station, Kota Town Hall, and the Disaster Prevention Plaza (outside the fire station).

Note: • Both buses have a final departure from the venue at around 3:00 pm.

Access by public transport

Kota Town Hall is a 7-min. walk north from Kota Station on the JR Tokaido Main Line.
A free shuttle bus is available departing from the West Exit of JR Tokaido Main Line Kota Station, Kota Town Hall, and the Disaster Prevention Plaza.
Access by car

Approx. 25 min. south from Okazaki Interchange on the Tomei Expressway by Routes 26, 248, and 483 (after approx. 10.5 km, turn left from Route 483 when it veers west, and you can reach Kota Town Hall after about 100 meters).
