A celebration of octopi and prayers for an abundant haul

Himakajima Island is known as Aichi's major octopus production location and puts on—believe it or not—an Octopus Festival!
At night, local children perform Japanese taiko drum and dance performances, ending with a fireworks show taking place in the night sky.

ACCESS

Access by public transport

• From Nagoya Station, take the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line. Get off at Utsumi Station and take the Minamichita Town Community Bus. Ride until Morozaki-ko Bus Stop and take the Meitetsu Sightseeing Boat to Himakajima Port.
• From Nagoya Station, take the Meitetsu Kowa Line. Get off at Kowa Station and walk 10 min. to the Kowa Port. From Kowa Port, take the Meitetsu Sightseeing Boat to Himakajima Port.
• From Toyohashi Station, take the Toyotetsu Bus. Get off at Iragomisaki Bus Stop and take the Meitetsu Sightseeing Boat to Himakajima Port. Get off at Kowa Station on the Meitetsu Kowa Line and walk for 10 min. to Kowa Port. Take the Meitetsu Sightseeing Boat to Himakajima Port.
• Take the Toyotetsu Bus Irago Main Line from Toyohashi Station on the JR Tokaido Main Line and get off at Iragomisaki Bus Stop. Take the Meitetsu Sightseeing Boat to Himakajima Port.

Drive 10 min. from Toyooka Interchange on Minamichita Road to Morozaki Port. Take the Meitetsu Sightseeing Boat to Himakajima Port.
