Damine Dengaku Festival

One of the three Dengaku Festivals in the Mikawa region
On the second Saturday each February, this Dengaku Festival is held to pray for an abundant cereal harvest. The festival is made up of three parts—the Afternoon Dengaku, Night Dengaku, and Morning Dengaku. The Afternoon Dengaku comprises of religious rights and dances dedicated to the gods. The Night Dengaku entails entertainment performed as prayers for an abundant harvest, while the Morning Festival offers a bonfire with more dancing.
The Damine Dengaku Festival is designated a national important intangible folk cultural property and is one of the famous Dengaku Festivals of the Mikawa region together with Horaiji's and Kurosawa's festivals.
This year plans to awe visitors with showings of the Matsume Kannon Boddhisatva and Eleven-Faced Kannon Boddhisatva, the Dengaku Festival, and blessings from the temple.

- Access by public transport
- From Hon-Nagashino Station on the JR Iida Line (board from Toyohashi Station, in turn reachable by the JR Tokaido Main Line or Meitetsu Nagoya Line from Nagoya Station), take the Toyotetsu Bus bound for Taguchi for about 26 min., get off at Damine Bus Stop. Walk south and then north for 35 min. (1.8 km).
Note:
• Check Google Maps (https://goo.gl/Cz7BeM) for the hiking route. The hike requires a degree of physical fitness. You can also take a taxi from Hon-Nagashino Station.

- Approx. 30 min. (19.2 km) north from Shinshiro Interchange on the Shin-Tomei Expressway via Routes 151, 257, 436, 32, and 389 (head west at the short access road between the Shitara Police Station's Damine Substation and Dammine Post Office to access the steep northern access road leading to Damine Castle and Damine Kannon Temple).
