Yoshikawa Ferry Festival (Yoshikawa Watashiba Matsuri)
Date: Oct 22,2023(Sun)
The Yoshikawa Ferry Festival takes place at the old site of the Fujie area's ferry docking area. The traditional custom of brides being brought across the river with family for their betrothal at waterside communities is reenacted at the festival.
Fujie was a hub of transportation between the old countries of Mikawa and Chita from the Edo period, and so it is said that travelers, merchants, and even beautifully dressed brides could be seen making their way up and down the river.
