Meiji-Mura into the evening
Museum Meiji-Mura lengthens its hours until 8:30 pm during the Evening Meiji-Mura event period with the much raved-about fireworks display and outdoor stage shows as well as the Summer Night Excitement hands-on projection mapping available this year. Plus, if you come in a light summer kimono, known as "yukata", the price of admission is a whopping half off!

Event info
(1) Bamboo lantern path
Arches and ornamental objects decorate a pathway with the gentle light of bamboo lanterns.
• Location: Pathway behind the Imperial Hotel Lobby and Front Entrance
(2) Hands-on Summer Festival projection mapping
Fireworks, fox masks, water balloon yo-yos, and everything else characteristic of a Japanese summer festival is projected on a church. Touch the images outside the front of the church, and fireworks shoot up while fox masks move around!

(3) Fireworks display (canceled in inclement weather)
Historical structures are illuminated as dazzling fireworks soar into the sky from close by.

(4) Outdoor stage shows (canceled in inclement weather)
JAZZ SURVIVOR offers live jazz shows in addition to performances by Meiji-Mura's official entertainment group, the Meiji Ijin-tai Troupe, as well as traditional Okinawan performances like Eisa dancing drum performances and karate forms by Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko. Fun awaits visitors of all ages.

(5) Evening experience workshops
Original lampshade workshop
Choose a family crest design of your choice and create your own original lampshade.

Fan creation with stencils
Choose paper with designs of Meiji-Mura's architecture to use on a fan you create yourself with the color of your choice.

• Time: 3:00 pm–7:00 pm (reception available until 7:00 pm with workshops lasting 20–25 min.)

(6) Goldfish lanterns
Goldfish lanterns from Yamaguchi Prefecture's Yanai City, continuing since the late Meiji period, create a cute photo spot.

(7) Flowers of Light Japanese umbrella art
Colorful Japanese umbrellas make for a picturesque photo spot, perfect to capture fun memories.

(8) Meiji Festival Square
Fairs go hand in hand with summer, and you can enjoy retro games like target shooting and ring tosses.

(9) Performances by the Meiji Ijin-tai Troupe at the Kureha-za Theater during Kureha-za Theater Night
The greats of the Meiji period as portrayed by the museum's entertainment group, Meiji Ijin-tai Troupe, offer performances of song and dance.

- • From Inuyama Station on the Meitetsu Inuyama Line (board from Meitetsu Nagoya Station), take the Gifu Community Bus bound for Meiji-Mura(21-min. ride).
• From either Nagoya Station's Meitetsu Bus Terminal Platform 23 or Sakae Bus Terminal Platform 8, take the Meitetsu Bus bound for Meiji-Mura and get off at Meijimura Bus Stop (approx. 1-hr. 20-min. ride).
