Ebisen Park
While the rice crackers are flat as a pancake, the popularity of this establishment is as high as the roof
Ebisen Park is a park for ebisen—otherwise known as ebi sembei, or shrimp-flavored rice crackers. And this institution has a particular focus on local production for local consumption on its savory seafood sembei rice crackers.
Of particular popularity are its rice crackers using octopus locally procured from nearby Himakajima Island; whitebait from nearby Shinojima Island; and mogi velvet shrimp from Minamichita Town, just south of Mihama Town, where Ebisen Park is located. Ebisen Park also has a wide variety of rice crackers featuring seafood that are grilled whole to preserve the original shape of the squid, octopus, or shrimp. Sold straight from the factory, these crackers are unmistakably delicious!
Recently, the "Pettan" experience has been gaining incredible popularity. You mix your own ingredients; make them pettan, or flat; and then grill them to make your own rice crackers in a rare hands-on experience. Any age can take part in the experience, so if you're headed out to beautiful oceanside Chita Peninsula, where the establishment is located, why not make something to bring back with you for a great souvenir and memory? Sometimes special service discounts are available too...!
