A cozy aquarium, up close and personal with staff

Takeshima Aquarium is a leading and historic aquarium with a warm atmosphere encouraging all to enjoy their visit to this fun-loving facility. Numerous creative and ingenious initiatives draw in many hardcore fans to the niche aquarium.
Though a cozy atmosphere, a full-scale range of specimens inhabit the establishment, such as Japanese spider crabs and around 100 varieties of rare deep-sea creatures caught by fishermen off the shores of Mie and Wakayama Prefectures.

Heartwarming and charming sea lion and capybara shows as well as a petting pool with deep-sea animals, crabs, and sharks are also available to much acclaim by children!
Unique explanations and hand-drawn signs dot the facility and bring a smile to guests' faces in an innovative style of education which makes this aquarium a destination for those from all over Japan despite its small scale.
